Nottingham’s Splendour Festival is just a couple of weeks away.

This festival has been running for around 18 years but, it would seem, this could be the last one!

The 2-day event runs from July 18-19 with a fantastic array of performers all set in the beautiful Wollaton Hall and Deer Park grounds. It’s aimed at the whole family with bands ranging from The Wombats and Primal Scream leading the way on Saturday the 18th to Snow Patrol and The Editors doing the same the following day.

The DHP Family, that run the event, have confirmed that this will be the last as rising costs put increasing pressure on both the festival organisers and the paying public.

This ‘last hurrah’ as the organisers have described it will allow visitors both old and new to experience the quality of Splendour for one last time. With around 25,000 people expected to turn out for this ‘last hurrah’ it looks set to go out with a bang.

Previous events have seen the like of Noel Gallagher, The Pet Shop Boys and Madness play the festival, the line-up for this year is just as exciting.

It’s disappearance will be a definite blow to the Nottingham music scene, of that there is no doubt, but the memories will remain.

Full information regarding the event, including the link to get tickets, can be found at https://www.splendourfestival.com/ with Nottingham residents getting discounts on those ticket prices through the website. Day tickets start at £80.

It’s always sad to see popular events disappear from the calendar, though some would say it’s just a sign of the times. Numerous festivals have gone, only to be resurrected by popular demand . . . just saying!
