Track by Track:
Dried Saliva: Dried Saliva is the second single form Leeds based post rock artist Levi Nice. Its dark and at points suffocating sonic pallet provides a uniquely strange take on the post rock genre. The track features heavy electronic drum sounds, piercing horn sections and demonic synths.
Come, Buried Men: Come, buried men is the debut single from Leeds based post rock artist Levi Nice. This ambitious track sees Levi take a modular approach to production, as he meticulously ties together complex sonic arrangements to form a seamlessly flowing 11 minutes of intriguing sound.
The Engines Will Hear You and Eat You Alive: The Engines Will Hear You and Eat You Alive is a stripped back folk Ballad that both retains and furthers the melancholy gothic tone that defines the album.
Cross Country Locomotives: Cross Country Locomotives begins with thumping dissonant guitars that slowly build up into organised chaos. The track is then thrust into a fast passed post punk section, reminiscent of traditional Klezmer music.
They Will Not Taste Our Breath: They will not taste our breath follows on from the chaos introduced in the previous track and pushes it further. The track features galloping rhythms and screeching horns that mesh with Levi’s trebling vocals. The track ends with a pulsating industrial electronic section influenced by halftime UK Dubstep.
Aerial Mast: Aerial Mast begins with percussive string orchestration which then plunges into the unhinged cries of a Pentecostal preacher drowned in discordant saxophone melodies. Levi’s rambling spoken word is accompanied by marching band drums and wailing horns.
Utilitarian Art: The albums title track is a raw and melancholic piano ballad which resolves and encompasses the albums concept. The track ends with the piano being engulfed by recordings of desperate voices fighting for the listener’s attention.
ABOUT LEVI NICE
Levi Nice is a multi-faceted singer/songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer from London. Levi’s sound has its roots in the post rock genre but he continues to dabble in genre-bending sounds and push the limits, refusing to be confined by the expectations of a genre or sound.
The recording restrictions of the COVID pandemic forced Levi to adapt and experiment with different production methods that don’t require relying on other people, this birthed a unique sound which mixes large orchestral arrangements, harsh distorted guitars and experimental electronic sounds.
Levi continues to follow the lead of a new generation of musicians who experiment and blur the lines between performance and synthesis. With influences from Neutral Milk Hotel, The Microphones and Sufjan Stevens, it is no surprise that Levi approaches his music with an open mind and an absence of fear.
After his unreleased first full length album Oh Our Father’s Children! gained the attention of Counter-Clockwise Records, subsidy label of Golden Robot Entertainment Group, Levi began working on his next full length album which Counter-Clockwise Records are thrilled to be releasing.
