It’s a huge news day in the world of Lacey. The Nottingham alt-rock four piece – frontman and bassist Graham “Graz” Turner, drummer Dave Pearson and guitarists Pete Maksymiw and Josh Lewin – are delighted to confirm details of their long awaited new album. This Is All We Are is Lacey’s first new album in five years, coming as the follow up to the 2018 album I Don’t Owe The World A Thing. This Is All We Are will be released on the 17th of July

The new album features the hit single Dream In A Little Less Colour (as featured on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang among many others), the follow up I Always Tell The Truth (Even When I Lie), and a brand new single, details of which we will get to in just a minute. The album was recorded at Steel City Studio in Sheffield and produced by Phil Gornell from the studio who also handled mixing duties. Engineering was handled by Callum Benson, also of Steel City Studio while mastering was done by Grant Berry of Fader Mastering. Having recently toured with Young Guns as well as shows with Greywind and their own headline shows, the release of This Is All We Are is Lacey’s next big step as a band.

Lacey describe This is All We Are as “14 tracks of lyrical darkness wrapped in a shiny, anthemic, pop package”.

Inner turmoil, self-loathing and crippling insecurities meets a sense defiance, insolence, and refusal to lay down. This record really is a classic case of art imitating life, and as in life, you must take the rough with the smooth. This is reflected in the Lacey’s ability to switch between the frenetic, powerful and angry, (3AM Sonata, Run Away) to the softer, more introspective. (Middle England, You Were Right).

Lead singer Graham Turner describes the record as:
“Basically, the soundtrack to what it’s like to feel everything and nothing, all at the same time. Lyrically, no stone is left unturned, and I can guarantee if you’ve ever felt anything, it will be addressed here. This really is a soul bearing ride through every, conceivable human emotion. This is all we are”.

Lacey are also unveiling the latest single from the album today. Run Away is the third single to land from This Is All We Are; We all have that fear of failure, we all need tough love sometimes. Lacey’s frenetic new single ‘Run Away’ unpacks that difficult topic, in a resentful yet uplifting way.

Run Away is also available to stream on your digital platform of choice on this link.

We return to Lacey frontman Graham “Graz” Turner to get some more insight into their new single:

“‘Run Away’ is a metaphorical opportunity to sit yourself down, slap yourself in the face and give yourself a damn good talking to. Too often our lives are controlled by fear, who know what missed opportunities this could lead to. ‘Run Away’, is the inner voice we wish we all had, goading us into taking that step.

I’d highly encourage everyone to sing this in the mirror to themselves every morning. You’ll certainly be fired up.”

The next chance to see Lacey live is in London on the 14th of June in London, where they will be playing their first London headline show in some time at The Waiting Room in Hackney. Tickets are available on this link
