Following a storming headline show at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum last summer, powerhouse band FOZZY will embark on a 10-date UK headline tour next month. Ready to rock cities such as London, Manchester and Glasgow to their foundations, they will also be heading further afield to the likes of Northampton and Buckley, bringing their heavy melodic groove to the masses for one hell of a party.

“The UK has always been the second home for Fozzy and we always look forward to rockin with all of you!  The Spotlight tour is our biggest UK tour ever and we are stoked to bring the Fozzy party to your shores with new songs, a new show and the same Fozzy intensity & fun factor that you’ve come to demand and expect from us!” Chris Jericho / FOZZY

With the superstar showmanship of frontman Chris Jericho tag-teamed with guitar genius Rich Ward, FOZZY are a band that deliver a truly rock n roll experience – a sonic assault of headbanging riffs, energy and most importantly, amazing songs. The backbone of their sound comes from the killer combination of Grant Brooks on drums, bassist PF Farley and Billy Grey leading the charge on guitar shredding solos. It’s always good times and electric performances guaranteed no matter the crowd or country.

Having paid their dues with endless touring of their earlier albums, sharing the stage with a pantheon of rock icons such as Metallica, KISS and Iron Maiden, it was the release of seventh LP, JUDAS, that elevated the band into the rarified group of acts to cross over from the rock and metal world into mainstream consciousness. The title track from the album has been streamed over 65 million times on Spotify alone and was sung word for word by 81,000 fans when FOZZY performed at AEW’s sellout Wembley Stadium show last August.

Pushing themselves both sonically and artistically over their twenty plus year career, the bands eighth and latest studio album, BOOMBOX contains ‘a swathe of catchy-as-hell tunes’ (Metal Hammer) and ‘sees the band doubling down on the stadium anthems’ (Classic Rock). With the band continually on the rise, expect an explosive performance of groovy, sweaty and hook-laden rock’n’roll as FOZZY tour the UK next month.

FOZZY, background and recent stuff:

FOZZY is an American heavy metal band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1999 by lead guitarist Rich Ward and drummer Frank Fontsere. The band’s current lineup consists of vocalist Chris Jericho, Ward, second guitarist Billy Grey, bassist P. J. Farley and drummer Grant Brooks. Jericho has characterized the band by saying, “If Metallica and Black Sabbath had a bastard child, it would be Fozzy.” As of September 2022, the band has released eight studio albums and one live album. Their first two albums consist of primarily cover songs with some original material, while their albums since have made original material the primary focus.

On April 4, 2019, FOZZY announced that they were signing with Sony Music. Following this, they announced they had entered the studio to begin recording of their eighth studio album, later tentatively named as 2020 due for release in 2020. Chris Jericho debuted the album’s first single, “Nowhere to Run” during a broadcast of The Rock of Jericho on August 23. “Nowhere to Run” was later released on August 29, 2019. However, in July 2020, Chris Jericho said the album’s title had been scrapped, and the release was pushed to 2021. “The original idea was to call it ‘2020’, until we realized that we’re not gonna have this thing done till November/December, so it’s not as contemporary anymore to put out an album called ‘2020’ when it’s 2021. Let’s just leave it behind.”

The album, re-titled Boombox, was released on May 6, 2022.
