Feeder and Tom Speight at Manchester Academy.

On a crisp October evening in Manchester, Feeder took over Academy 1 with a show that blended nostalgia, energy, and storytelling — with Tom Speight setting the tone in the best possible way.

Tom opened the night with a gentle acoustic set that was low-key but totally charming. His mellow vibe matched the slightly reserved crowd, but it worked. It felt intimate, almost like a living room gig, where everyone was happy to just listen and be present. The stripped-back performance was the perfect way to ease into the night. Even adding in a little Stereophonics cover to close up their set, which really got the crowd moving.

Setlist:

  1. Everything’s Waiting for You
  2. Trick of the Light
  3. Buzzing
  4. Heartshaker
  5. Little Love
  6. Sungirl
  7. Dakota – Stereophonics cover
  8. Strangers Now

Then came Feeder — and any calm that had been lingering in the room disappeared the second they launched into “Just The Way I’m Feeling.” The crowd came alive instantly. It wasn’t just excitement; it was connection. People of all ages — quite literally different generations — came together, singing their lungs out and losing themselves in the moment. There was a sense that Feeder’s music meant something personal to a lot of people, especially those who grew up with their songs soundtracking their teen years.

Visually, the show stepped things up too. A curved screen behind the band played animated visuals that evolved throughout the set, subtly building a story that ran parallel to the music. It was a cool touch — not too flashy, but just enough to keep you watching between riffs.

Setlist-wise, Feeder weren’t afraid to lean into their new album, but they didn’t forget the classics either. There were more than a few “oh my god, this one!” moments that sparked memories and singalongs. The mix of old and new worked brilliantly — for die-hard fans and casual listeners alike.

All in all, it was a gig full of heart. Tom Speight brought the warmth, and Feeder brought the fire. A proper night of live music that reminded everyone why these kinds of shows are so special.
